Health-System Pharmacists Immunization Certificate Program Offering


The program offering is the American Pharmacist Association (APhA) Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Program. This is national certification program for pharmacists to become immunizing pharmacists.


Program Requirements:

  • Step 1: Self-study: Participants must complete the following items: pre-assessment, review of all modules, and self-study examination. These components must be completed by November 18th before attending the first day of the didactic lecture. If they are not complete certificate cannot be awarded. Self-Study activities is accredited for 12 hours of CE.
  • Step 2: Didactic lecture Participants must attend and participate in all 6 hours of lecture broken up over the course of two days. Session will be 3 hours each day with the first session will be on November 18th from 4-7 pm EDT. The second session will be on November 19th from 4-7 pm EDT. These sessions will be held virtually via Zoom and participants are responsible for continued internet connection, a camera must be used for the entire lecture for video monitoring of attendance and participation, and a microphone should be available to be able to participate during class.
  • Step 3: Hands-on-injection technique: After completing the didactic lectures participants will have 30 days to complete a hands on injection technique exercise. Participants will be required to give 3 injections (2 intramuscular and 1 subcutaneous into the arm) and receive 3 injections (2 intramuscular and 1 subcutaneous into the arm). Each health-system will be responsible for scheduling their hands on injection technique session at their facility and identifying a certified immunization observer (This can be a pharmacists, nurse, or provider that is already certified to immunization in your state). The immunization certificate coordinator (Jennifer Towle) will help you with the set up of the hand on injection technique session, provide orientation to all of the immunization observers, and providing all of the supplies for the session participants.

To Register for this program there will be two options:

1. Organizational registration for one health-system to register all of their attendees and pay in one invoice.

OR

2. Individual registration for each pharmacist to register and pay for their invoice separately.


Information that will be required at registration: Each participants name, email address, name and credentials of your immunization observer.


Cost of this program is $200 per participant - this will cover the cost to access and use all APhA program, payment for the presenters, coordinator, and supplies for injection technique.


Payment will be due prior to participants being able to access the self-study material. Once the participant has used the enrollment code in the APhA elearning system there will be no refunds as you now have access to their immunization program material.
